About Me

My photo
Hi, I'm a History of Art student who adores and seeks inspiration from silent films and vintage clothes, especially from the twenties, thirties and fourties. After reading many incredible blogs that have enthused and influenced me, I decided to create my own, as I begin to wear vintage and become more immersed in the glamour of the past. x

Dissertation Blues

Hi,
Sorry It's been so long since I first posted but I have been incredibly busy: applying for masters courses (hopefully will be studying a masters in History of Art next year) and writing my dissertation I really haven't had much  time for anything else. With what little time I do have free I have been cheering myself up by immersing myself in my favourite decade the 1920's.

1. Watching Bright Young Things, an incredible film directed by the very talented and adorable Stephen Fry.

2.Dancing like a lunatic to Sing Sing Sing by Benny Goodman. Had a very embarrassing indecent when my father walked in whilst I was dancing around my room rather frantically. He started complaining that I sounded like a herd of elephants (charming!) and that the noise of my feet on the wooden floorboards was distracting whilst he was trying to watch I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (no great loss there then).

3. Reading The Beautiful and the Damned by F.Scott Fitzgerald.

4. Pouring over the beautiful twenties reproduction dresses on leluxeclothing.com and wishing I could afford to buy the stunning Millie Antique Gold.

5. Finally watching silent films of my favourite actress and the reason I cut off my long curly hair last year, the quintessential flapper, Louise Brooks. Pandora's Box is one of my favourite films.

Unfortunately, whilst my imagination has been running rampant trying to provide me the escapism I so desperately need at the moment, instead of attending an extravagant, elaborate and exciting party hosted by Jay Gatsby on Long Island I must get back to my dissertation, sigh.

Hopefully I wont leave it as long to update, I'm going to see the Nutcracker Ballet soon so will add outfit pictures.
